Is Indoor rock climbing really safe for Beginners?:

This is the biggest concern amongst the majority of people, honestly, rock climbing can be sometimes intimidating. The answer to this question might come as a shock, rock climbing is much safer than a lot of other sports!

How?

Your safety is our priority and we make sure you are safe with the help of our trained staff. You don’t need any equipment for rock climbing, all you need to do is have trust in Adventure Zone, and be rest assured that you will be as safe as possible.

Here’s what you will use:

  • Clothing

The most important thing to remember while wearing clothes for climbing is that you should feel comfortable in anything that you choose to wear. Your clothing should not restrict your movement or cannot catch on a rope.

It will help if the clothing is breathable and sweat-wicking for temperature control.

  • Climbing Shoes

While providing the grip you need, climbing shoes are designed to protect your feet. They are tight-fitting and stiff to ensure you get the power and control you need.  Climbing shoes will make your bouldering experience much more comfortable and easy.

  • Basic Climbing Techniques

Your footwork is the key lesson to remember when you begin climbing, where you place your feet is much more important than where your arms go.

As a beginner, you should focus on moving sideways traversing the climbing wall, to practice your footwork, and step down when necessary.

Make sure to always maintain three points of contact with the rock or the wall and lean slightly away from the wall so that you can have a clear view of your next move

Indoor Climbing tips

  • Keep your arms straight, whenever possible:

Bent arms require more effort than straight arms, especially when you are hanging on hold. Instead of your muscle holding the tension, let your bones hold the tension.

  • Use your legs as much as possible:

Many times a climbing move can feel hard because of foot placement. Try to move your feet up or find a better foothold, if you find yourself getting stuck.

  • Think ahead:

You can plan your moves. There are chances that your body will learn the movements more quickly, as often as you involve your brain more.

  • Get Creative:

If you feel like bracing your knees on hold or want to try jumping for the next hold, go for it. There are no rules when it comes to climbing.

  • Experiment with different body positions:

You may get surprised to see what works best on a climbing wall. Some moves may feel a little difficult from one position but can get easier with a new approach.

Even kids can do it, so what are you waiting for?

Indoor rock climbing also belongs to kid-friendly activities, that is when you know how safe it is. In fact, Adventure Zone has indoor rock climbing which is kid-friendly, as kids are natural climbers they love this activity.
